Day
1:
Arrival at your hotel in the attractive spa town of Buxton
with time to explore this charming town, the highest market
town in England. |
Day
2:
Travelling South along the Pennine Cycleway you will pass
Arbor Low Henge, a Neolithic Stone age circle known locally
as ‘Stone Henge of the Peak’. Peddling through
attractive villages such as Middleton & Youlgreave
to will pass through the Chatsworth Estate with a chance
to pay a visit to the opulent house & gardens. You
will have the option to visit Bakewell, an attractive
stone built town famous for its Bakewell Tart or ‘pudding’
as it is known locally or take the longer route through
a number of attractive limestone villages past Hassop
Hall before arriving at the picture postcard hamlet at
Monsal Head (26 or 31mile Cycle). |
Day
3:
From Monsal Head you will Cross the famous viaduct and
follow the River Wye along the Monsal Trail through Water-cum-jolly
Dale to Millers Dale. Passing through Tideswell Dale takes
you to ‘Cathederal of the Peak’ Tideswell,
known for its magnificent 14th century Church of St John
the Baptist. On through pretty Litton you will pass through
the dramatic gorge at St. Peters Dale before returning
through scenic woodland back to Monsal Head (9 Mile Walk). |
Day
4:
Travelling along the River Wye you will pass through pretty
Cressbrook to Tideswell. From Tideswell you will travel
via idyllic country lanes through quiet hamlets such as
Wheston, Wormhill & Chelmorton before arriving back
at Buxton (20 Mile Cycle). |
