Peak Tours offers flexible but carefully planned holidays for the traveller wanting to visit the most interesting & beautiful places the Peak District has to offer. We offer a range of tours which aim to visit some of the Peaks better known attractions and also to some of the lesser known hidden gems.
As well as the many tours that we operate in the Peak District we also run a number of other classic rides throughout the UK such as the Lands End to John o'Groats tour, Coast to Coast, Way of the Roses & Dover to Cape Wrath.
Who are Peak Tours?
Peak Tours was established by Steve Coackley. Born & bred in the High Peak or Dark Peak area of the Peak District Steve has walked & cycled extensively throughout the Peak District for many years. Prior to setting up Peak Tours Steve cycled around the world on an unsupported trip along with three others from Scotland, China & Australia. The journey took Steve through Europe, Russia, Kazakhstan, China, USA & Ireland covering 12,700 miles in eight months. All travel by land was by bike & the group carried everything they needed to be self sufficient. Apart from getting arrested in the Xinjang autonomous region of Western China on suspicion of being spies the tour was generally trouble free. On returning home Steve left his career in finance to work as a tour leader for the adventure travel company Explore Worldwide, leading walking & cycling tours in Turkey, China, India, Poland, Ukraine, Macedonia, Greece, Finland & Bulgaria.
'I wanted to apply the principles I had learnt whilst working with Explore Worldwide to providing similar tours in the Peak District (no-one else was doing it!) I am passionate about the area & enjoying the great outdoors. Every effort has been made to ensure that you make the most of your time in the Peak District, visit some of the hidden corners & get away from the crowd. I feel that cycling & walking through the Peak District, staying in some interesting locations & learning of the fascinating history & culture of the area is the best way to appreciate this beautiful landscape.'
