Day 1: Arrive Hathersage
Settle into your accommodation – either a fine B&B or quality country Inn.
Day 2: White Peak Loop (22 miles)
Travelling South from Hathersage you will pass through Grindleford to the infamous plague village of Eyam, which has a number of interesting buildings including the 17th century manor house at Eyam Hall. Away from Eyam takes you through rolling fields criss crossed by row upon row of drystone walls through the pretty village of Foolow. You will continue past St Peters Stone to Litton before arriving at the ancient village of Tideswell, known locally as ‘Cathedral of the Peak’ because of its imposing 13th century church. You will continue through Great Hucklow to an amazing ridge at Bretton before a memorable descent through Abney & back to Hathersage.
Day 3: Dark Peak Loop (15, 26 or 36 miles)
Your second ride takes you to the Upper Derwent Valley Reservoirs. Situated amongst forested banks of pine beneath the surrounding high moorland this enjoyable ride has a distinctive alpine feel. The reservoirs were made famous by the 617 Dambusters squadron who trained with their bouncing bombs during WW2. This gently undulating route is much different than your previous days ride and demonstrates the variety the Peak District offers.
