I’ll start with the same complaints that I had after I completed LEJOG in June, the tour and the distance were not long enough! Never have I enjoyed my cycling more than this year having been granted 2 passes by my wife to complete 2 fantastic tours.
The accommodation varied from very basic to very smart which added to the experience. The route could not be faulted from the flat lands of the north, to the tough climbs of Mont Ventoux and the Verdon gorge, and the fast technical descents are the very reasons why I ride a bike. The GPX files were spot on I did not use the route notes. The food was very good although I did miss the bowl of porridge and fry up I had on LEJOG but we were in France to experience the culture as well as ride so that’s ok. Isabelle and the brew van were legendary particularly on the wet days when a cuppa, slice of cake and a warm smile was all I needed to crack on with it. I was lucky to ride with some fantastic people the group size was just about right as it split into small groups of similar abilities, however the day we ascended Mont Ventoux the group was a whole as we all waited at the summit until everybody had made it. The organisation of the tour was very good everything it seemed to run like a well oiled machine.
Now a word about the guides, 3 totally different people but what a team they were, I thought they were all outstanding. Nigel’s passion and enthusiasm for what he does is a credit to him, Isabelle is such a nice warm lady who cares so much about what she does always with a smile on her face, Sam who was always there ready to help whenever he was needed, I thought they were all a credit to Peak Tours.
The tour overall was excellent just what I was looking for in a cycling holiday, in fact I would certainly do C2M again without hesitation. I would also recommend Peak Tours to anybody without a doubt.
