I thought the routes were brilliant. So well thought out, precise and interesting. The clear level of attention to detail, thought and planning that has gone into each route was really impressive and was a big factor in making the trip for me. Sections eg the country lanes that led into Clifton Park in Bristol and many of the cycling pathway routes eg into Lairg and Crosthwaite which were beautiful and avoided A roads were really special. I was so happy with the way each route found a good balance between really scenic, remote and pretty and the most direct, safe option.
One of the reasons I chose Peak Tours was because I thought the company would have a nice friendly small group vibe. There are lots of options of big tour companies and quite corporate Ride Across Britain style trips. I thought the group size and overall atmosphere felt very friendly, accommodating and more of a touring holiday, not a corporate challenge. People felt at ease to cycle with whoever or however they wanted which was perfect for me as a solo traveller.
I cannot fault the organisation. Everything ran like clockwork and considering how tough it is to keep 20 people happy with everyone arriving at different times / cycling at different speeds / wanting different food and staying in different places, I was really impressed with how calm, accommodating and organised the guys are. Instructions were always clear but I didn’t feel too marshalled!
Niv, Martin, Tom and Rob were all great. Every guide bought something to the tour and I thought they were all extremely professional and really nice guys.
I had such a brilliant time and loved my whole trip. The organisation was great and everything was thought of and planned so well without feeling too directive. Life was made so much easier eg accessible lunches, brew stops, having the bags ready in your room on your arrival and some dinners booked in the evenings. But the planning wasn’t overbearing. I felt secure that if there had been any emergencies or disasters that I was in good hands and I think the guides fostered a really great team vibe across the group. I felt like I had an excellent customer experience. The guides couldn’t do enough for you and were so helpful with bike maintenance and helping with any additional things that were needed but I also felt that I was part of a team / group which included the guides which I really enjoyed.
