The accommodation provided

The accommodation provided was very good. Each place was special in tis own way, all were comfortable and convenient. We sure enjoyed the breakfasts and found our hosts at every location friendly and interesting people. And so varied, from the cosy old cottage in Castleton to the relative luxury in Buxton to the faded glory of the Beresford Arms in Ashbourne. The latter reminded us of the Hume Hotel in Nelson, BC, a remnant of the glory days of the late 19th century silver mining boom.

We’ve never done a trip of this type and thoroughly enjoyed it. The scenery is outstanding and varied, the towns are pleasant, the history is interesting. The cycling was close to the far edge of our abilities, but that gave us a sense of accomplishment, daily and at the end.
