The accommodation was above my expectations, consistently comfortable and nice rooms. The fact that many of the B&B owners are regulars at hosting LEJOG groups was an added bonus as they were so welcoming and understood the whole experience – and often had some good stories about previous groups to entertain us!
I’m amazed at how little time we spent on big, busy roads (though I think I might have missed one of the busier days). The route was brilliant – a mixture of different terrain, challenging enough without being overwhelming for someone like me who’s not been cycling for long. And stunning scenery! Seeing the landscape change as we travelled north was one of the things I was really looking forward to about the trip, and it didn’t disappoint.
Despite my stupid accident, the LEJOG trip goes down as one of my favourite ever holidays (and I’ve had some pretty good holidays); getting to spend all day every day on my bike, being outside in amazing scenery, being surrounded by a group of great people…and all in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere that the Peak Tours guys all helped to set.
Normally I love an opportunity to provide suggestions on improving things but I’m struggling to think of anything. Keep doing what you’re doing! It’s great.
